About This Item

Howdy! We're Tex and Cookie!

Howdy y’all! We're Tex and Cookie! We're some friends of some great kids in the Fellowship Church Children's Ministry. They have been wondering what we are doing this summer. We told them we are learning lessons from the Bible while going on an adventure all around the world! And guess what fellow geocachers? You can take us there! Take us with you wherever you go this summer - to the beach, your backyard, on a cruise, on a plane, in the car - anywhere!

There are several of us floating around. So to log: If you have our original dog tag, log as normal (grabbed, dropped, etc). If you have our paper copies, make sure you click "Discovered" and then post your log. We would love to have a picture of you with us on your log along with the location you took the picture! Then, Instagram or Facebook your pictures with us and be sure to hashtag the words #FlatTexCookie to have your photo featured in the photo gallery on LeadershipForKids.tv/TexCookie!

Thanks for your help! Our friends are going to be so exited to see where we go! Let's travel!

I've held onto this TB way too long. When I picked it up int he Smokey Mountains, I somehow got it into my head to drop it off in downtown Knoxville, near where I am living. Despite being close by, I somehow didn't end up in Knoxville for quite a while, but this TB came with me all over the place. I took it to a cave in Kentucky, the gorgeous Cumberland Falls, a CITO (Cache In Trash Out) event that I hosted at a local waterfall, all over Oak Ridge and Clinton Tennessee (with their rich history in nuclear energy), back into North Carolina to the Blue Ridge Parkway, where wild blueberries were ripe and tasty... and finally to Knoxville, where I managed to take a shot of it at the iconic Sunsphere from the World's Fair Park. I wish this TB many excellent journeys ahead.

  • Knoxville Sunsphere The iconic Sunsphere from the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville.
  • West End Quarry of Oak Ridge TN A secluded spot in Oak Ridge TN where this bug accompanied me to a FTF.
  • CITO at Potters Falls This bug came with me to a CITO I organized at a small waterfall known as POtter Falls. This falls is famous for a photo of a kayaker going over it, one of the first falls to be run this way. It is a LONG drop for a kayak.
  • Sam's Knob NC I carried this TB up to the summit of Sam's Knob, a short hike in the Bluer Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Blueberries everywhere!
  • Caver's Plunge Taking the TB deep into a cave in Kentucky.

They call it the Niagra of the South, and it is indeed an impressive waterfall. Sorry I didn't get Tex into the picture, he was buried in my backpack at the time.
