Current Goal

The Merry Spork (TM) would like to travel around the world, visiting as many cities and countries as possible. She would love to have her picture taken with interesting people and in interesting places--especially if the people and places are wacky, creative, colorful, fun, irreverent, peculiar or silly.
*FIRST REQUESTED DESTINATION--a cache in Pennsylvania, called There Is No Spoon.

About This Item

MerrySpork1a.JPG

The Merry Spork (TM) is a stainless steel spork (cross between a spoon and a fork), approximately 6 inches tall. Another name for spork is "ice cream fork." Like all true sporks, ours has a bowl and tines, and is therefore useful for eating many kinds of foods, both liquid and solid. This little gem has been the starter for spork soup, the making of which requires ingredient contributions from many people.
If you love silliness, you'll love the Merry Spork (TM). Take her with you, and show her the world!

She was just passing through. See the cache log for a pic of Her Sporkliness straining to reach 81 feet...

Second year being up to my elbows in frozen turkeys. Despite the turkey schmegma (sp?), I had a great time. There are so many fun people in the Jeep club, and I wish I could see them more often. Luckily, I was able to get a break from prepping and carving turkeys long enough to pick up this TB. How could someone named Spoon! not help this TB on her journey? It just feels right. I have a feeling she will travel with me during the holidays, and at least get to see a few local sights.

Today was our Jeep club's annual Turkey Fry Trail Ride where we feed lots and lots of people (about 160) a full Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings - in the middle of the woods. Fried turkey: ummmmm mmmm mmmm.

After prepping half of the 14 turkeys for the fryers - most of which were still frozen - my fingers were pretty numb, tired and germy. 😌 Thank god I only had to do half of them! Or, should I say: Thank Spoon! I only had to do half of them.

The "kitchen" was stationed about .16 mi from my cache, so after disinfecting myself, I decided to go over and do some cache maintenance, finally dropping off this travel bug. I have a feeling it will be in good hands very quickly. There were many visitors to this cache today.

Since the goal is to "travel around the world, visiting as many cities and countries as possible," I took this TB with me on a cruise of the western Caribbean. I hope you enjoy the photos.

I decided not to leave her in Nassau (The Bahamas) since her travels would likely be curttailed by stranding her in this cache.

 • Piranha Joe's Watch out for the nasty locals!
 • Beautiful waters off of Nassau. I must admit that I took more photos of the Spork than I did of my in-laws who were on vacation with us! Ooops!

 • On the island of Cozumel, Mexico We rented a red Jeep and drove southward. Alas, we did not have time to find a cache here in Cozumel, but as you can see, I did find the time to relax in some shade (near Palancar Reef). Sporky wanted to be burried in the sand below the hammock.
 • at sea, somewhere where the weather is warm and be We enjoyed a lobster and shrimp dinner with a fine chardonnay on one of many fine evenings on the Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas.

You'll never believe this: Overnight, I heard some strange music coming out of my kitchen! Upon further investigation, I realized that the sound was emanating from the utensil drawer.

I don't go out clubbing much, but I swear that what I heard was that Missy Elliot song, Work It ... all the young people are listening to it these days.

This be the beat that goes ba ta ta

Ba ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta

I think the pictures tell the rest of the sordid story.

 • The "before" picture ... After The Merry Spork (TM) hung with the Oxo dudes, she asked me if she could stay in my utensil drawer. I thought nothing of it. I said, "Well, of course you may!" I opened the drawer, and introduced her to the gang in there, non-trademarked but all very nice spoons, forks, knives, and Others. This is how everyone was positioned early on in the evening. Notice the tall, good-looking soup ladle in the back row.
 • The "after" picture, sort of ... This photo shows how I found the drawer when I went to the kitchen at 2am, investigating the music. The bass and the dance beat were so loud that two characters in particular had reverberated towards each other. Was it accidental? Was it on purpose? You tell me. I will tell you, though: I chose not to upload a photo of the scene as I found it at 4am!! I wanted to, um, give the giggling spork and the big spoon some privacy.
 • The next evening ... They decided to forego the crowded utensil drawer. The soup ladle - his bald head gleaming all the way - carried The Merry Spork (TM) all the way upstairs to the Guest Room. These two have definitely hit it off!

I assuredly have a predilection for spoons but The Merry Spork (TM) is definitely a beauty unto herself.

Have you this page yet? Check out the poetry! It's amazing that www.spork.org has actually been bought, though it does not appear to be live.

 • place setting I can never remember: the water glass goes on which side, while the napkin goes on which side? The spork, of course, can go wherever it wants to go.
 • hangin' with the Big Boys The Merry Spork (TM) briefly visited a local Oxo (TM) utensil hangout. They discussed cleaning best practices, as well as proper etiquette around non-trademarked items.
 • recipes We enjoyed a few moments reading some recipes of supposedly aphrodisiac foods. The Merry Spork (TM) makes for an excellent bookmark!
