About This Item

The coin

This was the third Danish geocoin made. On the front side it shows a viking ship with the Danish flag Dannebrog as the sail. Along the border it reads: "Geocaching in Denmark - Global treasure hunting since the viking age". On the backside it shows the Danish geocaching logo. There was made a total of 500 coins

History:

  • The very first Danish geocoin was non trackable made by the Danish geocaching team farogdatter in 2005 as a gift from the father in the team to the daughter on her confirmation day.
  • The second "Denmark Geocoin" was made in 2006 by the Amercican cacher, Chuck Silvernale, who had visited Demark in 1985 and decided to make the coin because he liked Denmark, but he never bothered to ask the Danish geocaching community before making it. The Danes were offended because they were just in the process of making the first Danish trackable geocoin when they found out about the American wannabe Danish coin.
  • Therefore when this coin came out later in 2006, it turned out to be the third Danish coin.
  • In October the same year, another Danish geocoin came out. It was part of a series, where Signal travels to differeent countries, and the front side of that coin shows Signal in a viking ship with a Danish flag as the sail, just like theDanish Geocoin 2006

"The human geocoin" - fin fastelavns-udklædning, og det glæder mig da, at man er så tilfreds med denne mønt, at den ligefrem bliver brugt på denne måde!

Sikke en mønt! Den får æren af min første discover-log nogensinde, som samtidig er den sidste, med mindre jeg møder andre mønter af samme "kaliber" 🙂

Jeg håber dog at se "mønten" igen til kommende events..
