Current Goal

Dotty Bear has an important mission: to find her way into the hands of someone suffering from cancer to bring cheer and support.

About This Item

Dotty Bear

Dotty Bear is a beanie-type toy who has a serious, important mission. She moves from cache to cache like any other travel bug, but sometime, somewhere, a person will find her who knows of a cancer victim who needs a bit of cheer. Dotty Bear should then leave her cache hopping and be taken or given to that person. If you are the one moving Dotty about, you might know where she belongs. Or you might not! But in either case, please feel free to transport Dotty - in fact she is relying on you to move her around until she finds her final, real owner.

It might be on her first cache hop or after dozens...or more. Please log her in each time she moves. She also is accompanied by her own small log-book that her final owner may enjoy reading. I am confident that somehow she will reach her final destination. If you are the one who delivers her to her owner, please log in and let us know that Dotty Bear's mission is complete.

Because she is to be a gift, please keep her inside her protective bag (except for photo opportunities, of course ::grin::) so that she will be fresh and clean when she begins her real mission. I've also put her in an outer zip bag to keep her dry and safe.

Dotty Bear is named after my aunt Dotty who is a cancer survivor. Dotty Bear is one of Avon's "breast cancer crusade" bears and she proudly wears her pink ribbon shirt. Her purchase has already helped fight cancer and now she continues her mission, relying on the hands and hearts of the geocachers who find her.

Thank you!

Snatched this one because I'm a 2 time Breast Cancer survivor. I plan to have her visit with many friends who are currently battling the same disease before sending her on her way. I will post pictures of her visits before sending her on.

Will drop off Dotty in State College over the 4th. The Penn State football team will be holding their annual "LIFT FOR LIFE" next week. The lift is organized by the PSU football players with all money raised donated to cancer research.

We picked up Dotty Bear in Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton, VA. Dotty Bear is destined for her home in Pennsylvania. She was found by Jim & Dottie, who were visiting in VA; having left PA on 6/14. We had received word on 6/11 that our friend ~another Dottie~ was facing a tumult and we knew we were messengers to move Dotty Bear to her mission. She's a sign of HOPE - and we claim it in Jesus name. The Quimbys

Dotty Bear came to my mother, the other Dotty, and brought more than cheer. She brought a tangible sign of God's presence and love in the midst of an otherwise trying time. I've kept her these months to remind me of that, when the grief of our loss threatened to overwhelm all other thoughts. I pray whoever she visits next will recognize and acknowlege HIS almighty power and surpassing love. For that, and that alone, are the reasons we have joy. HOPE ON IN FAITH, GOD BLESS, AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR MINISTRY.
