About This Item

Spirit of Florida

This walking stick has no home. It is not to be owned but shared. If you are lucky enough to gain possession of this stick treat it well. Add your mark by carving, painting, or beautifying the stick as you wish. Please use only the room you need so that as many geocachers as possible have the opportunity to add their mark also. In order for this stick to move from one cacher to onother please place it in a cache and let all cachers have a fair chance at finding it. This stick must only be placed in worthy Florida caches. Do not place the stick in a location where the sticks spirit will be compromised. When placing the stick "in" a cache you may either place in next to the container itself or give direction how to find the stick inside the cache (new coordinates or similar). The stick is fond of Florida and does not like to travel outside the state borders. Move the stick around the state as much as possible so all may have a fair chance for a visit with the stick. Once you have found the stick and added your mark it is fair to obtain the stick again if sufficient time has past. Post as many pictures of the sticks adventures so the spirit may be shared with others.

This stick is a piece of Black Mangrove that was obtained from a site just North of downtown Miami. The cutting of any Mangrove in Florida is punishable by fine but do not worry, this mangrove piece was taken legally.

Ever see the Southwest Airlines commercials "Ever wanna get away?" That is how I feel right now. Short version...Storypole gives me the stick during a time I do not have access to a computer. I am super excited about this opportunity, especially because I need a break from the Dragon caches I am making. 4 hours later I created my masterpiece! My logo, a smiley face with a tongue hanging out, and "Silly Gilley" on each side. I bring it to show Storypole and the first thing he said was "You know there was something in the description that said to only use a small amount of space..." I wanted to crawl into a hole. I never read the description. Here is my solution, I offer my space as a place to carve and design their names. I sincerely apologize for the mistake and wish I could fix it. I also inserted a "South Florida Geocachers" coin next to it with the tracking number carved below it (small). I will take and post pics to see what my punishment will be. Sorry again! GREAT STICK though!

We got the Spirit of Florida (Silly Gilley) and (Storypole) making are marks and putting it back out in another Florida Cache as soon as posible. We recived it at CacheApalooza! Thanks! Wow, I didn't think I would ever lay my eyes on 'The Spirit' again, but it has become so! I retrieved this stick from 😈paintfiction😈 at FFF3 this past weekend whom for some reasom decided to keep 'The Spirit' for well over a year even after many emails. 'The Spirit' will be hid for Cachapalooza 2 for all to find! Please remember to keep this stick an acceptable amount of time.

Hey does it turn out that IceCreamMan has it? If so I have one of his geocoins. We could hold it hostage? Just kidding. But who ever has the spirit please move it on. I would like to see it in Tampa. Thanks
