This Auction TB is being done in the same style as the annual Christmas Daddies Telethon. For those of you who don't know what it's about, I'll explain: The Christmas Daddies charity hold an annual auction on a number of permanent items such as a rubber ducky, a plunger and a divers helmet.
People and businesses have bid literally THOUSANDS of dollars every year to get these items. They display them proudly and give them back for the next years auction, only to bid even higher than the year before.
It's my intention to have something similar for the Atlantic Canada region. A bit of fun and friendly competition for a good cause.
The TB rules:
-Bidding is open to all geocachers
-It will be permitted to leave the Atlantic region, however, it MUST return to the next designated event within the Atlantic region.
-It is NOT meant to travel from cache to cache like a normal TB. The only caches it will be placed in are events where it will be back up for bids.
-There will be a
no Discovery rule at events... feel free to discover them wherever the bidder mounts the TB, but there should be proof (afterall... if someone discovers it at an event, they'll be less likely to want to bid on it later on)
-The money that comes in for the auction (and all future auctions of this TB) will be split 50/50. Half the money to the ACGA (for future events, costs, etc) and the other half being donated to a charity of the winners choice (donated in trust by the ACGA)
-The winner will hold the TB and proudly display it where they please for a period of time at which the NEXT major event will have it up for bids again. If the winner is not able to attend the next event, they shall make arrangements to have the TB taken to the next event where it will be back up for bid.
-Once the TB is back up for bids, the previous winner will be allowed to bid again... although it may be a little harder to get it the next time around ;-)
This is meant to be fun and to bring some money into the organization we currently belong to as well as donating money to a charity that will put the donation(s) to good use.

I like the idea behind this TB. I'll have to find a suitable place to hang it at home.
HOLY CACHE! While I was logging this I glanced at the TB and found my profile picture in amongst the clutter ... now that I'm looking it's there no less than 10 times.
23 Apr 09 - Sorry it took so long to get a picture posted, I was having trouble with my card reader.

Had to get my hands on this one for a while- I really like it!!It is currently hanging on the wall in my livingroom.
I would like the charitable donation made to the Maritime Ride for Sight in memory of Robert Rivard.
Many thanks
Kelly
