This cache is dedicated to: James Madison
Fourth President
1809-1817
Born: March 16, 1751 in Port Conway, King George, Virginia
Died: June 28, 1836 in Montpelier in Virginia
Married to Dolley Payne Todd Madison
At 5'3" our shortest President, Madison was called "Little Jemmy." During his term, Louisiana and Indiana became the 18th and 19th states admitted to the Union. His Vice Presidents were George Clinton and Elbridge Gerry. All were Democratic-Republicans.
In a note opened after his death in 1836, he stated, "The advice nearest to my heart and deepest in my convictions is that the Union of the States be cherished and perpetuated."
