Dizz-Knee Challenge Part IV NJ State Map

Collect Your County Cache

This is the fourth in a series of twenty-one caches that will be placed in each of New Jersey’s 21 counties. This one completes the Ocean County requirement. This cache is located in Lacey and Berkeley Townships' beautiful Double Trouble State Park. Rather than tell you about the park, I would prefer you go to the link found at the end of the previous paragraph to investigate all the information needed for caching in Double Trouble. A certain number of people completing the Dizz-Knee challenge will be given a new, commemorative geocaching coin, trackable on geocaching.com, unactivated.

Welcome to Double Trouble State Park

I must give a special thank you to Arrow One. This cacher is the reason that I found out about Double Trouble State Park. Click her name to see all her nearby caches. I was looking for new caches to find and found a huge cluster all in the same area by the same cacher.

Update March 22, 2008
Please be advised that vehicles are not permitted to drive in and park ANYWHERE NEAR THE CACHE!! As posted, vehicles are not permitted beyond the parking lot. The historic village area, including the reservoir and dam, are gated and posted closed to motor vehicles. Also, it is very dangerous to walk over the spillway, as some days there are several inches of water rushing over it. Therefore, please be advised that you may need to seek an alternate route to the cache that does not include walking over the spillway.

There was recently a car that followed my original directions, and almost hit a family walking on the service road to the reservoir. I do sincerely apologize for directing cars to drive back there whereas I should have paid more attention to the signs. I am of course not admitting guilt, as each cacher accepts responsibility for their own actions which is why you should never fully trust what is written and always be prepared!

So, I am officially updating my geocaching site to reflect the wishes of Andrew Anderson, Resource Interpretive Specialist @ Double Trouble State Park (and rightly so) to instruct people to park at the parking area and walk back to the reservoir. Once again, PARK AT THR PARKING AREA.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Cache Facts: If you come in from Dam, I'm in Double Trouble, walk forward on the road/trail and the cache is .27 miles from a nice parking spot located at 39 53.987 74 13.777. You can also choose to go over the dam in your car (see pic) and down the narrow trail where you will encounter many piney stripes, thick branches sticking out and deep, deep, deep water (see pic) in which we almost got stuck. You could probably drive in a little bit safely and cut your walk time in half. The aforementioned cache is exactly 166 feet from the suggested parking area. Concerning Escape to Cache Mountain (this cache), it is possible to park 8 feet from it. .
Ground Zero

.....Stupid html..I can never get it to work correctly so I have to put this in here to make spaces and then color it white so no one is the wiser.
