Geocache Description:

The Wodonga West School first know as Green Hill School was first opened on 24th Jan 1887 and closed on May 9th 1950. The Wodonga West school is now located along Laurence Street in Wodonga City.

A Gum tree still stands on the site. At the school was a public telephone and mail service to Wodonga 3 days per week. Opposite the school was a platform on the railway line for the children of the workman who were building the rail line.

In 1935 a row of trees was planted along the boundary fence one for each pupil at the school.

There is an honour board in the RSL Club Wodonga with the names of the students who fought in the 1914-1918 Great War.

This is a micro cache with back to school items. This cache is easily accessible from the Hume highway and travellers will hardly have to detour off the road. Care is needed as often this is a popular place for people working at a nearby factory to park their cars for some shade.
