Geocache Description:

urban overlook

Football quarterback Dan Marino grew up in the South Oakland neighborhood. On this legacy, the city named a nearby ballfield to him.

Some history on this location: on a run with the Hash House Harriers, a hounds and hare style running club, a beverage stop was located in this vicinity, but never found due to a two-inch snow fall that covered all the hash marks. It was probably the only time in its 1100 runs history that this ever happend. A year later, to celebrate that occurrence, the same hare of that run re-hared starting at the same hash start (a detail that was noticed by the veterans of the earlier run), and titled that hash with a Proustian "A La Recherce du Biere Stop Perdu". This time the hashers did find the beverage stop, after climbing a steep muddy hill from Swinburne St and following a thick deer trail, in a wintery day, with a meandering river of glowing white and red lights on the freeway below.

The cache is a green ceramic container with a clamp. It is hidden from direct view. It can hold small objects.

There is no need to bushwack to reach this cache. There is a confortable trail to reach it from the end of Frazier St. On sunday mornings you can hear the singing from the nearby New Light Baptist Church.
