Geocache Description:

Binrat is a long-time geocacher who hails from Brockville, ON. He found his first geocache in May, 2002. In addition to local caches in Ontario, Binrat has geocached in New Brunswick, Texas, New York and the U.K.

Binrat’s geocaching name comes from his days in the Reserve Army Corp. If you visit his profile page, you will see a picture of a variant of the medium logistics vehicle wheeled. Reservists call the MLVW a "bin truck" because of the fully enclosed cage hidden under the tarp. Binrat would go on exercise and live in the back of the MLVW, only coming out to resupply the troops. On one particular exercise, it rained all weekend and Binrat spent the entire time in the back of the MLVW. When he emerged to go home, one of Binrat’s fellow reservists saw him and called out, "Hey, Binrat finally came out of his hole!"

I met Binrat in person at a geocaching event in October, 2006. At the event, we agreed to team up to hunt for a particularly tough mystery cache in Ottawa. After a successful outing on that occasion, we have geocached together numerous times since. I’ve observed that Binrat is a well-known and well-regarded geocacher in Eastern Ontario. He is friendly and outgoing but in no way pretentious. He exemplifies, in my opinion, the model geocacher. Binrat, I salute you.

In keeping with a couple aspects of a typical Binrat cache, this one is a simple multi-point cache. And I have placed the cache alongside a body of water, a favourite location for Binrat’s caches. Drive to the posted coordinates. You will see nearby a large, blue and white sign. On the sign in black numerals is a four-digit number.
JAN 09 UPDATE: The wind storm that blew through recently toppled the sign. Until the sign is repaired, the four-digit number you seek is 1857. Thanks, mikeec67, for bringing this matter to my attention.
Add 31 to this four-digit number to get the minutes portion of the north coordinates (45 0X.XXX). Add 36918 to the four-digit number from the sign to get the minutes portion of the west coordinates (075 XX.XXX). You can do the math from the comfort of your vehicle. The results are the coordinates of the cache. You can leave your vehicle where it is or drive to the corner of Honour Way and Veterans Way at N45 01.805 W075 38.788 and park there.

Binrat’s caches typically provide information about local points of interest. After completing the math, take a look at the waste water treatment plant at the end of the road. Built in the mid-1990s, the Ottawa Citizen cited this facility in a feature on the best architectural designs in the Ottawa Valley. The feature ran shortly after the treatment plant was built. Unfortunately, that is about all I can recall. From the Municipality’s web site, here is additional background on the plant:
“The NG-WWTP uses standard aerobic / anaerobic digestion-based processes with final effluent being subjected to UV treatment (Ministry of the Environment Level 4 Assessment) before discharging cleaned waters in the Rideau River some three kilometers away. The plant’s average daily capacity is established at approximately 4500 cubic meters (average flow), and currently operates below legislated capacity. In general, the plant operates very well with no occurrences of sewage by-pass since coming into operation in 1995/96.”

Fittingly, the cache container is a large ammunitions can, a favourite choice of Binrat. The can is on a wire hook to keep it off the ground. PLEASE: return the container to the same location where you found it and place it back how you found it, thanks. And no spoilers, please, in your on-line log.
