Geocache Description:

A regular size cache in a beautiful forest setting on the west edge of the city.

The cache was moved a few metres in October 2016. Since the forest is changing and nice hiding spots decompose into soil and mulch, we had to move the cache. The hint has also been updated.

This ammo box was placed by a father and daughter team and is filled with things that we like to do - books, games, cards and so on. We also love geocaching so we thought we'd place a cache to celebrate fathers and daughters.

While we were hiding the cache we heard coyotes howling in the distance - hence the name of the cache. This forest area is full of wildlife. In your log entries could you tell us about any wildlife that you see or hear?

The walk to the cache is fairly flat with some periods of climbing but nothing too serious. You know you're on the right track if you cross over a little bridge at N 51 05.983 W114 16.191. The last bit to the cache is steeper so watch your step after rain or snow. The cache itself should be fairly easy to find but since you're in the forest you might need to let your GPSr settle down a bit. If you need the any help the hint should get you zeroed right in on the cache.

Please be careful with the surroundings and tread lightly.

There are two parking options. The closest is at the end of Valley Woods Landing at N51 06.013 W114 16.015. Take Valley Ridge Boulevard to the end and then turn left on Valley Woods Landing. The other parking option is at the trail head recommended for the "Creepy Ol' Tree" cache at N51 05.589 W114 16.142. This location makes for a little longer walk.

You can follow the trails all the way to the cache until the last 20 metres.

Enjoy the forest and the cache!
