With the advent of the railway line to Caboolture in 1888, the railway pumping station on Lagoon Creek played a significant role in the development of the area. Lagoon Creek provided water for the locomotives until the 1960’s and evidence of its former use survives in the form of a concrete weir, remnants of concrete foundations and most importantly, a boiler used on a site nearby. The boiler was originally on one of the earliest steam locomotives to operate in Queensland (A10 No 10), imported from Scotland and commenced operation in 1867. In 1889, the boiler was removed from the locomotive and adapted to drive a pump at Lagoon Creek where it operated until 1913 when the boiler was sold. Parts were removed and eventually it fell into the creek where it remained until rescued and restored in 2005. The site now has the boiler, a viewing platform, boardwalk and a walking track.
