Geocache Description:

Saddleback Mountain or Mount Elimbah, is a largely undisturbed area of the Glass House Mountains National Park.

This part of the national park can be explored, however there are no walking tracks or facilities provided. The walk to the summit is not difficult provided you use common sense. The walk does require scrambling over some rocks and walking through long grass and thin, woody tea trees. It took us less that 1.5 hours return and we are of average fitness.

The entry to this part of the national park is at S 27 00.541 E 152 55.398. There is no designated parking. If you have a 4WD you could park at those coordinates, alternatively, you could try S 27 00.498 E 152 55.334.
On entering the park, we followed the old road to a “T” junction and turned right. At 27 00.685 E 152 55.502 we followed a compass bearing of approx. 125deg for about 180m. At this point, we kept the exposed cliffs to the left. We scrambled over some large rocks and headed straight up to the ridge, turned right at the ridge and then headed toward the summit. Care should be taken in wet weather, as the rocks could get slippery.

The view to the north is to Mt Beerburrrum and Mt Tibrogargan. Mt Coonowrin (Crookneck) is to the left and Mt Beerwah can just be seen between the two peaks of The Twins (Tunbubudla).
