Just a note with some information about this cache...
(For those interested) ---------1930's - 1970's
This was the first cemetery in this town. It came to be here in the early 1930's, when a man (described only as a southern european gentlemen) whos name was unknown and who's nickname has been lost with time, was found dead on this spot. It was January (average is in 40's here through jan) and the men finding him dug a grave alongside the body and "rolled him in". Thus the first grave in this cemetery is in the road corner area of the cemetery.
Also here are:
a number of miners killed in mining accidents,
one miner shot and killed at his birthday party,
one ex mines warden shot and killed after an arguement about opal and women,
a number of children, one of which pulled a boiling quart pot of water from the stove onto himself and died as they reached "the rocket range" (Woomera) in those days a log sandy/muddy rough drive,
a 3 year old girl hit and killed by a "jeep" as she ran across a road,
a man called "the bookmaker" whose grave was too skinny so he was buried on his side,
a man who drowned swimming in a town dam on a weekend
a local fencer (fence contractor)
a blacksmith (brother of "albertoni"-visit the cottages!)

they may be dead but here theyre not forgotten, their graves are kept tidy but most are unmarked, local moves are in progress to try and correct this.
(The "new cemetery is worth a visit-look for "dickus")
This is a colourful and unique town with a fabulous history.. and future....its well worth a visit!
