Reinings Pond was located on a 394 acre property owned by the PA Fish and Boat Commission. The property was originally aquired by the Fish Commission in 1942 for a price of $7,500.00. Reinings pond was a 50 acre lake created by a 305' dam spanning Collins Brook. The lake had a maximum depth of about 11 feet. The dam was found to be in need of repairs in 1952 at a cost of $30,590.00. In the late 1970's, studies were conducted to investigate the feasibility of enlarging the dam and the size of the lake to provide a viable fishery. When the study revealed that a land aquisition was required, the project was dropped. The lake was drained and the dam permanently breached in October of 1985 due to dam safety concerns.
While the pond no longer exists, an extensive wetland area remains providing a fantastic habitat for many creatures both large and small. The remainder of the site is wooded. The property is currently open to the public for hunting, fishing, and other passive recreation activities.
The listed coords are for parking. Once there go to the first Stage "Dead or Alive" and let the adventure begin. The terrain is relatively flat with only modest elevation changes.
As our first attempt at a Multi, we used ideas from things we have seen along the way, so to speak. We hope you like it. Remember the area is open to hunting, so wear your orange when the season dictates.
