Short Round Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Rattlingcrew: Not wanting to get anybody into any trouble during this period, I am archiving the cache until the park is indeed open. I am not sure we actually should be here anyway as the park is still within the boundaries of Fort Riley.

Geocache Description:

This cache requires a short walk into “Freedom Park,” a nice stop along the highway for traveling cachers.

This cache is a camo painted Lock & Lock plastic container.

The Atomic Cannon, at 280 mm, was the largest nuclear capable mobile artillery piece manufactured by the United States. On May 25, 1953, a 280 mm cannon fired an atomic projectile a distance of 7 miles at the Nevada Test Site. Twenty 280 mm cannons were manufactured. None were used in battle.

There is a virtual cache in the area, so if you have the time and the energy to hike to the top you could be rewarded with more than a bit of history.

I am currently stationed in Japan and cannot maintain this cache properly. It has had a good run so far with minimal work but if you discover that it needs a bit of help please give a fellow cacher a hand and give it some TLC. Thanks

SEVERAL GEOCOINS AND TBs HAVE GONE MISSING FROM THIS CACHE OVER THE YEARS...I RECOMMEND AGAINST LEAVING THEM IN THIS CACHE.
