This will be a day of CITO, in beautiful Fort Wetherill, located in Jamestown, Rhode Island.
2007 Fort Wetherill CITO Event
Date: May 6th, 2007

Who: Anyone & Everyone. This place is family and pet friendly.
What:
We will be cleaning up the Fort Wetherill. This park and historic fort is a great place, but many local teens have taken it for granted and left tons of trash all over the place. We will be picking up and carrying out trash. (DEM will pick it up later) In addition to trash clean up, we will be participating in Graffiti and paint removal. All trash bags, plastic gloves, & paint removers will be provided, if you wish to bring your own work gloves and tools, please do so.
We will be dividing into 3 teams.
Team A - Will be doing graffiti removal, and cleaning of the fort. We will be painting a large portion of the fort Grey.
We will also be removing glass, and sweeping the fort as well.
Team B - Park Clean Up. Doing basic trash and litter pick up.
Team C - (Small Team of kids) We will be painting large rocks that have been graffiti on. On these rocks will be colorful paintings of the ocean, and Rhode Island things. As well as park rules, please pick up after your self. We are still working out some details on this part.
Around 1:00 we will take a break for lunch. It will be pot luck, so if everyone brings something to share that would be great. East Ferry Deli is donating hamburgers & hotdogs, and I will be providing a grill to cook on. If everyone can list what they will bring in there logs, so we don’t get 800 pounds of chips, that we be great. We will also have Gatorade containers with Water, Ice tea, and Fruit Punch. Plastic cups will be provided, along with all plates and utensils.
During lunch is a great time to geocache. There is 6 (Yes 6) geocaches in the park right now. Before and after the event, is a great time to explore all over Jamestown. There are lots of caches, see Kiki_Bianca's bookmark list.
In case of overcast weather, we will be setting up a canopy to keep us dry. There are bathrooms on site, along with running water to wash hands.
Why: Why not, it helps the environment, and it’s a great place to meet fellow cachers.

HenryDurant and Elly plan to attend the CITO event, and they are very generously volunteering to make the event buttons.
If you would like them personalized, please send an e-mail to HenryDurant through his geocaching profile with the names of the folks in your group and the group or team name that will be attending. They MUST have a 2 day cut off date prior to the event to allow time to make the last minute buttons and the non-personalized buttons for those that do not register.
*Traffic Notice: I was informed that the Newport Police Parade is May 6th. So anyone coming from Newport or coming through the Newport Area may have to add some time to their commute. I am not aware of what roads will be closed.
*You will get dirty FYI. Bring old clothes, and gloves if you have them!
