Geocache Description:

Who would want to adopt a Park?

In 1993 a suggestion was put to the Christchurch City Council by the Victoria Neighbourhood Group to establish a reserve on this site. Subsequently it was purchased, cleared and landscaped.

Part 1
Find the cache and log your find. Cache is rated for a quick and easy find.
The cache is a small black plastic box containing log, stash note, pencil and sharpener. There is no room for swaps.

Part 2
Honours status for those who think this is just to easy and would like to go one step further.

The neighbourhood surrounding this park is one of the oldest in the city. The social class structure of 100years ago is still evident in the styles of the housing in the area, from the smallest of workers cottages to large villas and grander homes. Examples of some of these can be seen on Beveridge, Conference, Durham, Peacock and Montreal Streets, also Bealey and Gracefield Avenues.

Notable people who have lived here include James K Baxter (writer & poet) and Fanny Buss (artist).

To claim a place on the Honours Roll download a photo of one of the properties in the area and give a brief history of the property or the people who lived there before 1950.
See example in the gallery.
