This cache is located high above Cromwell just off the Cromwell walkway track. This should be an easy find but the track is initially steep. With rock outcrops and bluffs in this area small children need to be well supervised.
The cache is a camo painted 500ml snaplock container hidden at ground level and not visible from any distance.
Please park in the car park at S 45° 03.070 E 169° 12.879
WARNING: You need to cross SH8 and the cars are moving at speed. Please cross with care.
The track starts a short distance south. It is a steep climb of 85 metres on a gravel track. Some of the steps are high.
In front of the cache are the markers where geologists monitor movement of the potential land slip. Given the amount of material which could slide it is easy to see why the geologists were/are concerned about this site when the Clyde dam was constructed.
Beware of the large cracks in the ground marking the edge of this potential slip.
Allow an hour to walk around the whole track.
After completing the All Dried Up cache, continue on this circular track to this one. The track continues beyond this cache decending to the road.
Both caches can be easily done in an hour unless you spend long periods admiring the views which are more expansive at this cache.
