Geocache Description:


The "Boonies" series of caches are designed to get everyone to explore areas you may have never traveled before. Get out, get some exercise, and enjoy nature! This cache really does exist (not like the previous "Boonies 2." Did someone actually go look for THAT? ).
This one is located in Van Patten Woods. There's 991 acres of forest preserve here, folks, and it all ties-in to the beautiful Des Plaines River Trail (nice for you bikers, hikers, horse riders, etc.). This area is open from 6:30 AM until sunset and there is NO admission fee! Park at the Shelter "D" parking lot at these coordinates: N42 28.244 W087 56.008.

The cache is hidden pretty close to the trail. Follow the grass horse/hiking trail off the main trail to get there. If you need a map, stop at the small building when you enter. You will find one on the outside of the building (Hey! We're Geocachers! We don't need know stinkin' map!) There are 6 caches hidden on this trail loop (CinemaBoxers and Rogheff have some nice hides here, too!) and lots more in this park.

You're looking for a tupperware container, which can hold some small items. Bring some trade items and something to write with to sign the log. Have fun!
