The preserve is located on the high bank of the Brazos River and is
mostly undeveloped. The intent is to just leave nature alone…nature
being defined as:
Poisonous Snakes, Wild Hogs, Possums, Raccoons, Skunks,
Armadillos, Coyotes, Deer, Rabbits, Poison Ivy, Bees, Spiders And
Wasps.
I also ran across a Fire Ant Metropolis so keep
your eyes open.
The preserve is named for Hilmar G. Moore, the mayor of Richmond
for over 55 years. The mayor traces his ancestral roots back to the
original 300 colonists who came with Stephan F. Austin to settle
Texas. The Moores have been raising cattle on the lands surrounding
the Brazos for over 100 years.
Signs warn you about leaving the trail at your own risk and I
want to re-emphasize that warning. This park is wild and
undeveloped and care should be take at all times. You are looking
for an ammo can filled with trade items. CONGRATULATIONS TO
GRANGERFAM ON First-To-Find.
