A difficult Multi touring the W82nd Meridian!
A tribute to the 82nd West Meridian
This vertical line of latitude divides the western hemisphere. Tracing her from the Arctic Circle southbound, the first land mass we meet is Southampton Island, in Hudson Bay. It nips the western tip of Akimiski Island before entering mainland Canada. She enters the United States of America near Avon Lake, Ohio. She crosses West Virginia and absolutely shaves Kentucky before crossing Virginia. It then nicks Tennessee, crosses South Carolina and Georgia before departing the continental USA near Sanibel Island, FL. It bisects a tiny island in the Florida Keys called Boca Grande Key. It then crosses the Tropic of Cancer near Havana, Cuba and continues thru Panama. It stays off the east coast of South America, passing the equator just off the coast of Ecuador, and terminating in Antarctica. I’ll introduce you to her by taking you to a few locations, especially ones with a lot of ZEROS.
This Meridian passes a notable milestone near land break in Avon Lake, Ohio. That location has 4 zeros in a row in the latitude, and 5 zeros in a row in the longitude. Find that spot, and welcome to the 82nd Meridian! Answer question #1, and you are on the way.
1. Find a prominently displayed number (5 digits) very close to this waypoint. Stay on the sidewalk, please. Translate that number as such: A B C D E.
Follow the 82nd Meridian South until you break the local zero record. This second fix should have 5 zeros in a row in BOTH the Latitude and Longitude. Visit that waypoint too. If you have to cross I-71 (from waypoint #1) to get to your spot, you went too far. Answer question 2 from this location.
2. What is the house number of the home nearest to this waypoint? Translate this number as such: F G H I
(Note-please disregard any NEW construction. It is possible, eventually; that a new building could be erected on this spot and that would alter the outcome of the solution).
A few notes about this cache. Unless you are very good with Google, you will need to drive between these two waypoints, which is nearly 35 miles. This cache will take a lot of legwork and is intended to be a relief from the “too-easy” cache. The final reward is significant and should be sufficient to cover the first finder’s gas expenses. The final reward sits on the 82nd Meridian and is closer to the northern of these two fixes. Look closely at my difficulty rating, I mean it. Those daring few who find this multi cache have accomplished a feat of considerable magnitude.
