The Second GAS Winter Event Cache Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

wavector: Someone has Priscilla the Gorilla! I am not sure where she is but if you have her please make a log. I picked up every bug that was left at the event so I know she wasn't left there. I think all the logs are in. Thanks everyone.

Geocache Description:

This is Medicine Hat's Second GAS Winter Event Cache and I really hope you find time to drop by and say hello. The event location lends itself well to nonchalant fun. If you want you can swim and perhaps skate but there is no need to do either, just drop by and say hello, it doesn't cost anything! There will be a presentation of the DVD, Introduction to Geocaching, a good look at the basics of this activity. This is a GAS (GeocachingAlbertaSouth) event.

This event cache is an opportunity for fellow geocachers to drop in and say hello to each other. I have booked the :

Sagebrush Room
Medicine Hat Family Leisure Center
2000 Division Avenue N
Medicine Hat, Alberta
Sunday January 28th, 2007 1:30PM to 3:30PM

This Medicine Hat event is for everyone and I would really enjoy seeing geocachers from everywhere. Like last year this will be a very informal meeting, some refreshments and snacks in the meeting room and a door prize draw.

If your family is like mine then you may find yourself, on occasion, dragging reluctant children along on a hike, they like geocaching if conditions are right ! The GAS Winter Event cache will allow you to bring your children along to a geocache where they are guaranteed to have fun, they can go swimming in the wave pool!

This is a worry free weather event, blizzards aside. The Medicine Hat Family Leisure Center is a great facility with a pool and skating rink.
Fees are required if you wish to go swimming, there is a waterslide in the pool area. There is also a special Tot's pool that is geared for the littlest ones. Skating, if the rink is open, is usually free. Younger children require supervision in the pool. (under 8 years)
There is no need to go swimming or skating, those facilities are just available in the complex, drop by for coffee or tea or a soft drink, it is a great opportunity to meet and put faces to some of those names you see on the cache pages. Please come out and say hello.

Event cache information : Please go ahead and log a Will Attend on the cache page if you even think you might drop by, it is really helpful. An event cache is special type of geocaching.com cache. If you have never attended an event you need not worry, this informal setting is very relaxed. Please drop by and say hello. The facility can add extra lifeguards if there are a lot of younger swimmers.

I will be giving away several Alberta Wild Rose Geocoins as prizes at the event.

Our family will be heading to GeocoinFest 2007 and will be happy to take any travellers along when we leave, a few weeks after this event. I decided to go ahead with this cache even though the planning will add to an already busy schedule because Christmas creates new geocachers every year and I hope these Winter Events are a good way to answer questions that new GPS users might have. Last year we decided it would be good to have a computer and a connection to the geocaching website, I hope we will have that this year so that questions about website geocaching tools can be answered.
