This cache is on St. Olaf College property, in an area open to the public; nearby there is private farmland and also conservation wetland, so only approach from the Skoglund parking lot.
In Summer 2006 the college completed construction of a 1.65 megawatt wind turbine that towers more than 350 feet from the ground to the blade tips at their highest.
The ROTOR itself can be seen from the hiding spot, and on a windy day, you can even hear the blades swooping through the air.
The area is ringed by college property, conservation wetland and private farmland, so please hunt carefully and respect the boundaries.
The cache itself is seeded with various keyRINGS, and there is a FTF PRIZE appropriate to the theme of "Rings Aroung the Rotor".
Park in the lots near the athletic center, pay attention to signage, as many spots are student or faculty only.
The actual hiding spot isn't too far off the trail, so watch out for others out walking.
Please take care in re-hiding the cache exactly as you found it so the next cacher can enjoy this relatively easy find as you did.
The only reason I don't automatically list this as child-friendly is due to the presence of many thorny weeds as well as some old barbed-wire near the cache.
Heck, I even got scratched up a bit during placement.
