Geocache Description:

Tipperary Flat is situated at the southern entrance to Nanango. Early settlers, the Smith family, purchased the land in February 1862.

Tipperary Flat was named in honour of Johanna Smith’s birthplace in Ireland. They established a hut and homestead surrounds adjacent to Chinamen’s waterhole, on the old sheep station and developed a dairy farm and supplied the town with milk. Tipperary Flat was also used for sport’s days and get togethers with other families who lived close by. Today, Tipperary Flat is still used as it would have been over 150 years ago. The lovely landscape makes a beautiful picnic spot.
