Geocache Description:

Brick Union Cemetery is located just off of U.S. 23 in Lloyd, Kentucky. The cemetery is home to many pioneer settlers of this area. It is located to the side of the Brick Union Gospel Lighthouse Church.

Some of the first Greenup County residents rest in peace here.Hezekiah Morton (1757-1856) came from Virginia. He is the son of Captain John Morton of Revolutionary War fame.

John McKee was a Captain in the War of 1812. The John McKee House is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

James Bryan was an uncle to Daniel Boone's wife Rebecca. In fact, Daniel and Rebecca raised James Bryan's six children up, so history says.

William Biggs (1800-1897) was a wealthy land owner early. He had a wood yard and a landing where the river boats stopped for fuel, and he loaded flatboats with produce for New Orleans. Historic records show he was a shrewd trader, and became the owner of several fine farms in Greenup Co, as well as land in the states of MO and ARK.

Many local pioneer namesakes are interred here. It is well worth the visit. The cache is now a medium sized peanut butter jar camouflaged. Bring a pen with you and enjoy this nice old cemetery and church.
