This cache is placed with permission on public property on the North side of Ambergris Caye, Belize, near the Basil Jones cut. The cache is an easy find, once you get to the area. This is big enough for nice sized goodies, and starts out with a couple of travel bugs!
Dream of the Sea Cache! The oldest active cache on Ambergris Caye.
This cache is placed with permission on public property on the North side of Ambergris Caye, Belize, near the Basil Jones cut. There are a number of resorts and places to stay around this cache, but typically you will be coming from San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye Belize.
If you are coming from town, there is only 3 ways to get here as far as I know.
GAS golf cart (plan on a kidney jarring trip of at least 3 hours one way and hope you don’t get stuck too many times. (Do not try this with an electric cart from town, power stops about 5 miles) or boat. I guess you could walk in from town, but its about 12.5 miles the way the bird flies, so plan ahead if walking is your game.
As far as landmarks, the property this is adjacent to is Sueno del Mar. At the time the cache was placed Tranquility Bay and the Turtleman’s house was right next to it, about a ½ mile walk.
The cache itself is a gallon plastic wide mouth storage container, with lots of goodies in for trade and a few travel bugs to get it started.
The cache will be well guarded but everyone around knows that cachers will be looking for it, and will be very helpful if needed, you don’t need to worry about the staff in the area being muggles.
If you do see any of the staff, tell them that Charlie and his Angels said Hi!
I think you will find the place right next to the cache a great place to grab some refreshments, maybe a snack.
If you have time, please email me and I’ll give you some ideas on how to get to the cache and what else there is to do once you get to this area.
My first recommendation would be plan to spend most of your day around this cache.. Bring your snorkel gear, as you are about ¼ mile from the reef. If you are fortunate enough and plan ahead, there is a Marine Biologist that sometimes takes very small groups out on snorkel tours that has lived in the area for 27 years, and our experience with him was fabulous.
Have fun, enjoy DREAM OF THE SEA cache!
The elements are hard on caches here, so if you can, it might be helpful if you could carry items to help keep these caches active and in good repair, replacement log book, plastic bag, small pencil, even a small replacement container. Most of these are 1 qt or less, and while in the states we have access to great containers like the Lock and Locks, here not so much!
If after a extensive search for any of these caches, you are unable to find them, you may, place a REPLACEMENT cache using a reasonable geocache container..no nanos...and LOG IT A FIND! Let’s keep these old Geocaches available for other Geocachers to find.
Be safe!
Take some stuff, leave some stuff
Trade fairly
Watch out for muggles
Prevent Plunderers,
Hide the cache in the same location;
as well or better as you found it.
Have FUN!
