A place where I sometimes walk the dogs (and it takes me back to my youth). Parking is available at N 55 26.286 W 004 39.705. An easy walk along the shoreline of around half a mile, just follow that arrow! The cache box will only come out and go back into its hiding place in one way. Please take care to conceal it properly. Please take note of the information below and take heed of the warnings!
You must check the time of the tide as at high tide the beach at the base of the castle cliff becomes impassable. Tide tables are available at www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast/tides, click on Scotland, go to page 4, click on Ayr.
*WARNING*
DO NOT attempt to climb up to the castle from the "Ayr" side, it is extremely steep and can be slippy. It is NOT suitable for young children or dogs. There may be livestock at the top.
DO NOT attempt to gain access into the castle, the entrance is small and very close to the cliff edge. It is dangerous and you have been warned!
