The Thin Blue Line II Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

inspicio: As there has been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it has been a number of months since the last owner note I am archiving this cache to keep from continually showing up in search lists and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact a reviewer (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, the reviewer will be happy to unarchive it.

Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

This cache replaces the original Thin Blue Line (GCYNHK) which has now been archived. I have decided to create a new cache given that both the final location and cache container are different. (It is no longer a magnetic container but the methodology for calculating the coordinates is the same.)

To find this cache you will visit one of the newest memorials in the ACT - an impressive and sobering location.

At the given coordinates you will find a long list of names of people who have died in line of duty. Four of the names are listed below. You will need a pen and paper to complete this cache, but it is very simple to solve.

Each name has a code to enable you to find the person on the memorial – keep a record of this code, because that will give you the final cache coordinates in random order.

When you go to the correct panel on the memorial you will find a plaque listing their rank, date of death and jurisdiction. Place the names in order by their dates of death to determine the correct order for the new coordinates. Only the last 2 digits of each of the starting coordinates change – so the cache is not very far from your starting position. There is a rock wall near the cache where you can sit & log your visit. The ribbon inside the cache was collected during a recent caching visit to the Bendigo area. Please ensure the ribbon is re-tied as you find it - this will make it easier for the next cacher to remove the log sheet from the container.

I also recommend a night visit to this memorial, but if you decide to try to find the cache at night you will definitely need a torch.
