Located at what once was a nice lake.
The area near here used to be a very beautiful swimming spot.
In about 1982 the water level was up to the terraced area that you can see, then by about 2000 the water was already receding and it was down to about were the beach area with the advisory sign is.
There are a couple of theories as to why the lake is now empty; one being the water extraction being done for the township near by the, other is a drought that occurred 100s of years ago. Will it refill again that's anybodies guess.
A four wheel drive is required to get to the car park area or else it is about a 10km hike one way from the township of Rainbow Beach.
