Boat Lane Traditional Cache

Part way up the hill between Diggle and Standedge. Easy walk up with a little climb away from the crowds.
A small container holding a log book and pencil and a small car. This is on The Oldham Way, I thought I would get one in before Mongoose. But here is a conundrum, Why is it called Boat Lane when it only ever seemed to be used by Horses? PS and mountain bikes with no bells. This cache ie worth it for the view down the valley, on a clear day you can see for ever.
