Geocache Description:

This Cache is NOT wheelchair accessible but is findable from the driveway area. Hidden but observable!

*****************************************************

This Saguaro caught my eye because it is so out of place in Barlow or any part of Oregon for that matter. It also has a nice ring to the sound of saying -- "Barlow Saguaro!"

Saguaros (pronounced Sa-war-oo or Sa-hwa-ro or Sah-WAH-roe or, even, Sa-gwa-roh!!) grow in a very narrow belt in the Sonoran Desert and there is a National Park dedicated to their protection and visitation by the Public close to Tucson, Arizona.

This Saguaro came to be 'planted' in Barlow because the Owner wanted to post his street address for the Fire Department in case of emergency response. Most homes have a standard metal sign with the house number on it. Because he worked with metal and had some excess, he constructed the "Barlow Saguaro" and it has become a local landmark! Who else can say, "Drive up the road and turn right when you come to the big cactus?"

This Cache is placed with the Owner's knowledge and permission and he will allow parking in his driveway to access the Cache. Please respect that usage and not block the access to his home while you are doing the Cache. Also, be discrete when accessing the Cache. Children will require assistance!!
