Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

Not too long ago, Johnny Boy came up with a new puzzle cache. We all spent a good amount of time working on it, all with the assurance that no math was involved. As you well know, puzzle caches are created in order obfuscate the location of the final, and (hopefully) to excersize grey matter and (also hopefully) to have a little fun. I figured that the "fact" that math wasn't involved could also have been an obfuscation, so I tried a good number of mathmatical and non-mathmatical methods to solve the puzzle, mostly to no avail. (It might be interesting to note that, as of this writing, I have the knowledge to solve JB's puzzle, but I haven't yet sat down to actually solve it, and consequently have not yet logged the cache.)

Later, when we all compared notes on what each of us did to solve JB's conundrum, we found that everybody used divergent means to arrive at their respective incorrect coordinates. And that's where these spawns come in: we're using some of the methods we used to solve that first puzzle, Texts for Nothing -- GCZ0TQ, to create new caches.

So, here's my puzzle: Solve for the missing digits as shown below, where X is any single digit 0-9.

The cache is at the following coordinates:

N 48° [X-1]X.[X-1]XX, W 122° X[X-1].X[X-1]X

The puzzle:

281819162734392

About this cache:
  • Yes, I know that it looks suspiciously similar to JB's puzzle, but it doesn't work the same way.
  • Checksum for ALL digits in the final set of coordinates is 40.
  • This area can be muggle-infested at the right time of day or night.
  • This is a micro cache, but there is room for small trading items.
  • Just in case, BYOP.
  • The cache location has little or no redeeming value.
  • Congrats to ??? who was FTF and won a new 'Geocaching - Highly Addictive' geocoin. Way to go!
  • Make sure you visit the other Nothing caches: Texts for Nothing (GCZ0TQ) by Johnny Boy and DB Cooper, Spawn of Nothing - I (GC109BD) by Sassy&Gordy, and TEXT FOR SOMETHING (GC10BX6) by Rey del Roble.
Finally, please let me know if there are problems with either the cache or its coordinates. Most importantly, have fun!
