Being that Bikerboy is the “Official Navigator” in the Geo-van when we go out geocaching, he really loves road maps! He notices how Florida loves its numbered roads, so he has put this puzzle together for you! Now break out those Orlando street maps and get the following data:
Using your map, find the numerical roads for the following street/highway names-
- Maitland Boulevard = SR _ _ _
- Maitland Avenue = CR _ _ _
- Lee Road = SR _ _ _
- Aloma Avenue = SR _ _ _
- Central Florida Greenway = TR _ _ _
- Dean Road = CR _ _ _
- Alafaya Road = SR _ _ _
- Semoran Boulevard = SR _ _ _
- Goldenrod Road = SR _ _ _
- Florida Turnpike = TR _ _
Filling in the blanks, you need to do some math to get the coordinates to the cache. Make sure to follow instructions carefully to keep on track to the cache coordinates! Double check your math, and verify the final coordinates using the ”Evince” button below the formulas. Good Luck!!
For North minutes: Add all of the multiple digit numbers together for each street/road/highway. Now take that sum and add zero to the end of the number. Subtract (7 x 11) from that number. Divide result by 1000.
For West minutes (AB.CDE): Add all of the individual numbers for each street/road/highway together. [Example: SR 333 would be added as (3 + 3 + 3 = 9] AB = The sum of Maitland Avenue + The sum of Central Florida Greenway.
CDE = Add all of these new sums for all of the streets/roads/highways together. [Example: The sum of Maitland Avenue + The sum of Maitland Boulevard + The sum of Lee Road + etc. = Total Sum] For CDE, take the Total Sum + (9 x 9).
Once you have the new coordinates, go to that location, and search for a micro cache. Bikerboy picked a pretty challenging location that will keep you on your toes! BYOP to sign the log. Please replace the cache to its original location and report the condition of the container and log to me.
