Tribute to FishPOET -- For the Love of the Game! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

KnC: Going to let this one go, since we are just not up to the walk or the fabrication needed to create new caches if they are missing. Hope something equivalent appears in it's place. We really enjoyed this trail, and are grateful for the folks that initially populated this trail.

Happy Caching!

Geocache Description:

This cache is located on an Equestrian trail. Bicyclists also use this trail, so keep your eyes open as you walk. Please Watch for Muggles & leave the cache as found.

The first event we ever went to was the WestwardHo Trail Mixer... we somehow failed to meet FishPOET there, but we did learn of a way to meet this iconic GeoCacher... We had to go to his shop and ponder what the connection was... Something about a POET on a string?

We knew him primarily from the SoCalGeocachers forums, where he is always full of interesting 4x4 info, and camping/hiking knowledge. His posts and the Jeep pictures we see in galleries drives us to want a Jeep. And his expectations of GeoCaching causes everyone around him to strive for excellence.

We had the opportunity to do lunch and chat with FishPOET, and we were surprised by his appearance. For some reason we thought he was Dino (before we met Dino, obviously ). After meeting FishPOET, we learned why a couple of the caches he has placed were difficult for us to reach. He is definitely larger than life in person, as much as he is in the forums.

Are these coordinates familair?

Well, we found the cache that used to be here (Who's Next Kash), and found this trail to be a therapeutic walk. After lunch the other day we visited this cache again with a new cacher... and what's this? it's gone?

We have really enjoyed the Juanita Cooke Trail over the last year, and often take new cachers thru it because of the abundance of caches, and the fairly easy terrain. A Bird of prey first brought us to this location, and we wanted to keep this cache alive. So after contacting the old owner we decided to ressurect this one with a little more difficult camo.

The GPSr readings can get a little flaky in the immediate area, but we promise, this cache is on the trail, and not the nearby backyard.
