Geocache Description:

A multi-stage Cache located in the Alligator Creek site of the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center.

This is a very lovely park, great for bird watching, hiking, and other outdoor activities. As such, it gets a fair amount of visitors. That said, I felt that a Trading Post in this area would be good idea. Being the Captain, I decided to delegate the job of scouting for a Trading Post location to members of my crew. The 1st Mate was all tied up with various activities, and the Deckhand was out of town. I therefore decided to send the 2nd & 3rd out in a Shuttle, to search for a proper location for this fair trade establishment. Some time has now passed without any communication from my crew. In their last transmission, along with their coordinates at the time, they also told me that they had indeed gotten my Trading Post all set up. They were about to give me the coordinates for my new Trading Post, when all communication was severed. What da heck happened to them is anybodies guess. Your mission as GeoCachers, if you choose to accept it, is to proceed to the last known location of my crews’ Shuttle. From there you may be able to find out what happened to my crew, and once you locate them, I’m sure that they will more than likely reveal the location of my Trading Post. Please be prepared for success, and have some fair trade items with you to barter with. Completion of this cache will take you around the entire loop of the Flatwoods Trail, which is listed as 1-3/4 miles, plus a bit more on a side trail. Figure to cover just a bit over 2 miles in all. Please stay on the trail, and do not bushwhack between any of the stages. All stages are located very close to the trail, in areas that are fairly open and easy to get to.

The Alligator Creek site is located on Burnt Store Road, 1 mile SW of U.S. 41. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday. There is a walk through gate for dawn to dusk access to the park, outside of the posted hours. Three nice hiking trails are available at this site to enjoy.
