Located in west Redding. Best access is from Placer to Simmon's Rd or Olney Park Dr. Follow Simmon's Rd to Yankee John Rd. Follow GPS to parking. ( N 40 32.085 w 122 27.368 ).
Cache is a small ammo box. This area is known as YANKEE JOHN MINE. The shaft was filled in 2009 for safty reasons. (SHAFT- N 40 31.981 w 122 27.623). There are many foundations of old buildings used long ago to mine this area. Very dog friendly trail and a few ponds scattered about. Nice easy walk to cache about .20 miles from parking. Poison Oak in area but is avoidable. And as always watch out for snakes
