With the kind cooperation and authorisation of the Regional Manager of Flora Management of the City of Apeldoorn. Inleiding De cache is gelegen in de Apeldoornse wijk “ De Parken” . Deze wijk is sinds augustus 2006 Apeldoorns’ eerste Rijksbeschermd stadsgezicht vanwege zijn bijzondere en unieke karakter. Tussen 1876 en 1940 uitgegroeid tot een van de fraaiste villawijken van Nederland, uniek door zijn uitgestrektheid, historie en rijkdom aan architectuur. De naam van de cache is ontleend aan drie van de vier parken in de wijk: het Wilhelminapark (1890); Verzetstrijderspark (1925-1940); Prinsenpark (1909) en het Oranjepark (1876). De wijk ontstond in het laatste kwart van de 19e eeuw op het grondgebied van de voormalige landgoederen “ De Pasch” , “ De Vlijt” (later “ Marialust” ) en “ Maria’s Hoeve” en voorzag in de woonbehoefte van toestromende welgestelden zoals renteniers, oud-Indiëgangers, fabrikanten in ruste en hoge ambtenaren, waarbij de fraaie natuur, de relatieve goedkoopte en de vele reeds aanwezige voorzieningen aantrekkelijk waren. Verschillende bouwstijlen en –vormen werden toegepast; straten en pleinen aangelegd waarbij alles moest aansluiten op een parkachtige omgeving. Alle sinds het midden van de 19e eeuw populaire bouwstijlen en park- en tuinaanlegmanieren zijn in de wijk te bewonderen. De wijk telt vele rijks- en gemeentelijke monumenten en beeldbepalende panden. Introduction The cache is located in the district “ De Parken” (The Parcs) in the City of Apeldoorn. This district is since August 2006 the first governmental protected townscape of Apeldoorn due to its special and unique character. Between 1876 and 1940 developed into one of the most beautiful residential areas of The Netherlands, unique by its vastness, history and richness on architecture. The cache name comes from three out of four parcs in the district: The Wilhelminaparc (1890); Resistancefightersparc (1925-1940); Princeparc (1909) and the Orangeparc (1876). The district emerged in the last quarter of the 19th century on the land of the former estates “ De Pasch” , “ De Vlijt” (later called “ Marialust” ) and “ Maria’s Hoeve” and met the need of housing and living of pooring-in wealthy people such as persons living of their own investments, people returning from The Dutch East Indies, retired manufacturers and high ranking officials. Attractive too were the beautiful scenery, relatively cheapness and the many already existing facilities. Various architectural styles and –formes were applied; roads and squares constructed in a parclike neighbourhood. All since mid 19th century popular architectural styles and methods of parcs- and gardens lay out can be admired in this district. The district has many monuments and typical buildings protected by the government and city.
