Torre San Marco
Si trova sulla omonima penisola, a nord del golfo di Oristano, nelle immediate vicinanze della zona archeologica di Tharros.
La torre, chiamata anche Torre Vecchia, fu costruita a protezione della vicina tonnara ed era in contatto ottico con la torre di S. Giovanni a N e quella di Torregrande a NE
Torri costiere della Sardegna
Ogni torre è uno scrigno di storia, di avvicendamenti, ma anche di riferimento territoriale e di magisteri costruttivi.
Le torri costiere hanno soprattutto funzione di avvistamento, quindi di difesa. Appartengono, pur costruite in un arco temporale di tempo, con forte concentrazione nel periodo di dominazione spagnola, al genio militare. Perciò hanno un carattere sobrio e austero, con tipologie assai ripetitive, considerata la destinazione e le mansioni dei torrieri, che le governavano.
I luoghi su cui sorgono si aprono su vasti spazi aperti, su panorami di grande respiro che, indirettamente, donano bellezza a queste costruzioni.

San Marco Tower.
Located in the homonym peninsula, north of Oristano Gulf, immediately next to the archaeological site of Tharros. The tower, also known as Old Tower, was built to defend the nearest "Tonnara"(is an old building where Tuna fish was handled and salted
for preservation).
San Marco Tower, looks to the north over San Giovanni Tower and to NE over Torregrande.
Sardinia Coastal Towers
Every Tower is a treasure chest of history and a benchmark in the territory. Towers were built as observation tower to defend the area.
Completed over a wide period of time, mostly during the Spanish Dominance, coastal towers belong today to "Genio Militare". All towers look simple and severe, similarly shaped on the basis of destinantion and tasks assigned to their masters. Towers are always in strategical positions, they all have a broad visual over a wide landscape which indirectly give them beauty and appeal.
