Barrage « Bimont »

Le barrage Bimont est une retenue d’eau érigée en amont de la ville d’Aix en Provence et en contrebas du massif de la St Victoire. Il fut construit de 1946 à 1951 par Joseph Rigaud (hauteur 87,50 m). Entretenu par la Société du « Canal de Provence », il est alimenté par les eaux du Verdon et de l’Infernet. Si la navigation et la baignade y sont interdite, la randonnée pédestre reste autorisée une grande partie de l’année (a).
Aller-retour : environ 12 km pour le circuit le plus long. 5km pour le plus court.
Dénivelé : positif environ 420m. 160m pour le circuit le plus court
Départ : Parking du barrage « Bimon » à partir duquel vous pourrez commencer votre marche vers la cache. Trois possibilités s’offre à vous :
n°1) Accéder directement à la cache en prenant l’arrête Ouest qui monte vers le Prieuré puis laisser ce dernier sur votre droite pour vous diriger vers la cache. En terme de distance et de dénivelé, cette formule et quasiment identique de la formule n°2
n°2) Le tour du barrage (recommandé) : Comptez au total environ 12km pour un dénivelé positif de 320m. Pour ma part, il n’y a pas photo… le tour du barrage, dans le sens Parking de Bimont, les Bonfillons, les Sagnes et enfin retour Bimont est de loin le plus sympathique. La première partie s’effectue quasiment au bord de l’eau par les sentiers des pêcheurs à la ligne. Puis, proche des Bonfillons, une partie surplombante et à nouveau un cheminement au bord de l’eau. Et enfin, pour terminer, l’arrête Ouest de la St Victoire redescendant sur le barrage et son parking.
n°3) Accéder directement à la cache par le parking « Les Plaines ». Pour un aller-retour comptez alors 5km avec un dénivelé positif de 160m.
(a) Remarques : Les massifs forestiers de ce site sont dans une zone réglementée (arrêté préfectoral). En fonctions des risques d'incendie, l'accès pourra être totalement interdit. Pour vous renseigner vous devez appeler 08 11 20 13 13.

Stopping “Bimont”
the Bimont stopping is a water reserve set up upstream of the town of “Aix en Provence” and below the solid mass of “St Victoire”. It was built of 1946 to 1951 per Joseph Rigaud (height 287feet). Maintained by the Company the “Canal de Provence”, it is fed by water of the “Verdon” and “Infernet”. If navigation and the bathe are prohibited there, the pedestrian excursion remains authorized most of the year (a).
Go to and return : approximately 7.456miles for the longest circuit. 3.10miles for shortest.

Departure: Carpark of the stopping “Bimon” from which you will be able to begin your walk towards the hiding place. Three possibilities is offered to you:
n°1) Accéder directly the hiding place while taking stops it Western which goes up towards the Priory then to leave this last on your line to direct you towards the hiding place. In term of distance and from made uneven, this formula and almost identical of the formula n°2.
n°2) The turn of the stopping (recommended): On the whole count approximately 12km (7.456 miles) for uneven positive of 1049 feet. For my part, there is not the photo… turn of the stopping, in the direction Carpark of “Bimont”, “Bonfillons”, “Sagnes” and finally “Bimont” return are by far more sympathetic nerve. The first part is carried out almost at the edge of water by the paths of the fishermen to the line. Then, near to “Bonfillons”, an overhanging part and again a advance at the edge of water. And finally, to finish, western “St Victoire” going down again on the stopping and its carpark stops.
n°3) To reach directly the hiding place by the carpark “Les Plaines”. For a return ticket then count 5km(3.10 miles) with uneven positive of 160m (524 feet).

The forest massifs of this site are in a regulated zone. In functions of fire risks, access will be able to be totally forbidden. To inform you you have to call 08 11 20 13 13. (The whole of the site Sainte Victoire is classified historical inheritance with UNESCO since 1983)
