Geocache Description:

There is plenty of parking by the Lowes, and a nice concrete walk. The cache is NOT in or on the stone wall please do not search the wall.

While you are walking to this cache you will see some new stonework, enjoy. Lexington and the surrounding area have many stone walls and impressive stonework. Some date back over 100 years, but other stonework is popping up all over the place. It is beautiful to look at. As a young girl, pre and early teens, I used to mix "mud" for my father while he layed the brick and/or blooks, but I don't remember him doing any stone. I would also edge it for him while it was still "green". That stuff is had on the hands!

As you drive from Lexington to Paris, Kentucky you will see the result of much planning to widen a roadway and keep the beauty of the stone fences. Some of the original stone fences are intact. They are on one side or the other of the roads, some are even in the middle of the two roads. Other parts of the fence have been replaced from bottom up by skilful masonries.

Many back roads still have stone fences in very good condition, but far more are in disrepair.
