Geocache Description:

The cache you are looking for is a nano (a very small micro). There is no need to leave the paved walkway to locate this cache. When logging, initials-only are sufficient. Please replace the log paper in the lid before screwing into the base.

In the mid 1800’s the settlers in this area of Northfield Township were, for the most part, German families who farmed land. The church that stood next to this cemetery was built in 1863 and stood for almost 100 years. In the early hours of February 22, 1961, despite the efforts of the Northbrook, Glenview, and navy base firemen, the beautiful frame church building was destroyed by fire. While a new building was built near Pfingsten and Willow, all that is left of the old building resides in this cemetery. A walk through this cemetery will reward you with the family namesakes for several familiar Northbrook roads.

Cache placed with permission. Please be respectful.

Also know that (765 ILCS 835/1) (from Ch. 21, par. 15) (f) states Any person who knowingly enters or knowingly remains upon the premises of a public or private cemetery without authorization during hours that the cemetery is posted as closed to the public is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
