Geocache Description:

Located a couple of miles from junction 14 of the M5. Access to the cache is a short 200 yard walk across a flat field of short grass, which may be a bit muddy if the weather has been wet. Note - you do not have to climb over any walls or fences to reach the cache.

This cache is located close to the Tortworth chestnut, reputed to be well over 1000 years old. It was refered to as a "notable tree" in the time of King Stephen c.1135, and a Flora publication in 1892 said the tree's girth was 49 feet with branches covering one-sixth of an acre.

The centre of the tree is now an old gnarled giant, but where it's branches have touched the ground they have rooted and generated a small copse. In 2002 it was voted one of Britains 50 best trees.

There should be no problem parking somewhere close to Tortworth church. The cache is a small plastic tub in a camo bag.
