Along an old highway.
Once upon a time this location was frequented by travelers who were sometimes relieved to stop here. The site was also a favorite picnic spot with a covered picnic table area and barbeque grills. Years ago the road that goes past the site was a State Highway, but in the early 1950’s the highway was re-routed to the North and this site was no longer visited by weary travelers. The site has been mainly abandoned and has fallen into disrepair. Ownership has changed a couple of times since its “hey day”. The original brick lined parking area along the “old highway” while still slightly visible has been re-claimed by nature. There is a narrow road that borders the property above the “old highway”.
The site was originally developed by the State Highway Department assisted by the National Youth Administration. It was dedicated in the year 1938.
There is no container at the 1st stage, only the “stamped” coordinates for stage #2.
If you’re making a day of it, bring a blanket and your lunch.
Part of the narrow road is posted no parking, but there are areas you can pull partially or completely off the road. Most of the local police are aware of our hobby (some are cachers themselves), and permission has been obtained from the property manager to place this cache.
Nightcrawling after 10:00 PM is not recommended. The cache is small with a little room for trading, and a logbook.
