Geocache Description:

The cache is a short, few minutes, walk along the disused Beverley to York railway line from the free car park adjacent "Grannies Attic". Please note the car park is open "Dawn until Dusk". The trail can be muddy following wet weather. Access via horse or cycle is possible as the line is a permissible bridleway.

The construction of the York to Beverley railway line was begun in 1846. By late 1847 trains were running from York to Market Weighton. Only after another 18 years did trains finally run to Beverley, this was due to Lord Hotham initially preventing access across his land. With the agreement that Kiplingcotes Station would be built to provide access to Lord Hotham's estate, the line to Beverley was completed. Trains ran the line until 1965 when it was closed.

Today there is an active campaign for the railway to be reopened. May be one day this cache will need relocating!

The cache is a medium size Lock & Lock container. The original contents are:

Purple Chatsworth purse
Massachusetts lobster fridge magnet
Happy wizard with wand pencil end
Blonde girl with pink flower mini mirror
Blue Christmas Pudding popper
TB Clyde the Krazy Kat
Fawn fluffy cat to keep Clyde company
Notebook
Pencils
Green pencil sharpener
