Geocache Description:

A multi-cache near Garendon Park in Loughborough, taking in the Thorpe Acre Trail if you start in Loughborough. The above co-ords are for the first location.

**PLEASE NOTE NEW FINAL CO-ORDS CALCULATION SEPTEMBER 2018**

A two-stage multi which can be started from either Loughborough or Shepshed. It’s approx a 3 mile round trip from either direction, and the paths are bridleway/cycleway or tarmac most of the way, although not for the final 300m or so. The path near to the cache can be very muddy after wet weather so wellies or walking boots are recommended.

From Shepshed: park on Butthole Lane (no sniggering!) at N 52° 46.414, W 001° 17.222 and follow the bridleway over the M1 motorway bridge and through Garendon Park.

From Loughborough: park at Morrisons supermarket in Thorpe Acre (on Maxwell Drive) (N 52 46.723, W 001 14.340) and follow the Thorpe Acre Trail signs left from the rear of the car park. You should be following Black Brook downstream. Follow the signs for the Thorpe Acre Trail along Thorpe Acre Road and then Kenilworth Avenue to the end of Coe Avenue where you then follow the yellow arrows.

Head to the first co-ords at N 52° 46.584 W 001° 15.537. Here you should find a date, which you should substitute for the letters ABCD and use to obtain the co-ords for the cache:

N 52° 46.(B-A)D(C-2)
W 001° 15.(Ax2)(B-D)(D/3)

Please note that the date is clearly visible from the path, you do not need to enter any private property or climb any walls to see it! The location is interesting as nearby can be seen one of the original architectural features of the Park.

When you have the final parts of the co-ords, follow them to the cache, which is a medium egg-shaped container containing some swaps. There are some interesting places to explore on the way if you wish, and you can pick up the Thorpe Acre Trail again nearby for your return, if you parked at Morrison’s.

We named this cache after a very friendly ginger and white cat called Fudge (according to his collar) who followed us while we were looking for the cache site, miaowing and rubbing round our legs. Give him a fuss if you see him!
