Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Winterport dragstrip area off Route 139. This 4000ft. strip was built as an alternate place to use during World War Two in the event Bangor International became inoperative. Impressive in size, it is now host to more recreational activities such as drag racing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing , hiking and most importantly...geocaching! Please park at coordinates:44,38.768 N and 068,54.019 W. Please keep in mind the strip is well used during the winter for snowmobile racing...be very careful. Todays snowmobiles are very quiet and fast. During the summer, the dragstrip is used on Sundays and unavailable for caching unless you want to pay the admission fee of ten dollars! Being multi-use hunting is Nov.through Dec.9th. Use lots of orange. The cache is located on the hill to the north of your parking place. It is a traditional 7mm ammo box, containing a log book, gold coin, hand warmers, and lots of potential. The trek is not little kid friendly. Good luck...
