Winter Bells! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

MadMin: I attempted to contact the owner of Winter Bells! to find out about the status of this cache on December 17, 2007. I have received no response from the owner on the cache page or via email. Because of that I'm afraid I have to archive this cache.

I will be more than happy to review this cache again and (hopefully) reinstate it once you have corrected any issues with the cache. please contact me via ma.reviewer@gmail.com to do so.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page places it through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Great Esker Park. This area was formed by a glacier 12,000 years ago. The esker is supposedly the highest esker in the United States with elevations up to 90 feet. The park borders on the Back River (a brackish water body), so fishing and kayaking are at least two other activities that can be done here. Many intersecting and interesting paths can be hiked and many of them are accessible from the main paved road that travels atop the esker.

Parking can be found at the end of Elva Road. There is a park station there with plenty of spots and a picnic area. The cache itself is hidden off of a less traveled path that intersects with the main pavement road. The less traveled path is packed dirt and is lined with logs, but may become somewhat overgrown during the lush summer months, but it will still be passable and would not be considered bushwhacking. The path also has some fairly steep and rocky sections. You will have to bushwhack at least 100 feet of off the less traveled path to find the cache. Depending on how you come at it, obstacles will involve, but are not limited to, downed trees, thorns, and slight inclines. The path does have some great views of a salty marsh and Reversing Falls. The cache is a standard ammo container. This cache was hidden for my wife and to commemorate our wedding on January 13th, 2007. Congrats to Gonascar for being the FTF!
