The cache is not located at the posted coordinates.

In a nearby cache, Sawmill Run (GCM7JY), 2diggers gave an excellent introduction to the use of hot air balloons during the Civil War for surveillance purposes. In that description, 2diggers mentioned a nearby valley from which the balloon was launched. You can find that valley, and imagine the difficulty the Confederate Army had trying to shell it from across the Rappahannock River, up the hill using the following offset from the coordinates of Sawmill Run. I can never keep straight whether we add or subtract around here when someone gives us coordinate offsets, but I’m sure you will figure it out. I do know it’s a latitude offset of 0.039 minutes and a longitude offset of 0.275 minutes. This is a residential area, and the actual balloon site is private property. However, you can get a good look at it from the state-maintained road. I don’t think any of the neighbors are likely to shoot.
